DIDSON moves to Commerce!

Lake Forest Park, Washington Sound Metrics Corporation announces the removal of the DIDSON Dual-Frequency Identification Sonar from the U.S. Munitions Listing (USML). The DIDSON Sonar is no longer subject to the licensing jurisdiction of the Department of State.

The product range will now be exported in accordance with commercial regulations under the Department of Commerce No License Required. Exporting the DIDSON Sonar will now be streamlined and very easy without the strict export controls and delays previously in place.

A spokeswoman for the company reports, The commodity jurisdiction determination quest for DIDSON was a long and arduous journey for the company. However, at the end of the day we know we made a wise business decision in going forward with this process. We are now able to export the product with ease and more importantly, peace of mind that we are adhering to all US Government export controls.

The company has exported DIDSON to several countries in the past with all exports approved by the Department of State and plans to ship the first system next month to National Fisheries Research and Development Institute in Seoul, Korea under the new commercial guidelines.
